Using Breakout Rooms in Teams
Overview
Breakout rooms is a feature in Microsoft Teams that allows for organizers to divide the meeting into sub-groups for discussion and brainstorming sessions.
Breakout rooms was released 12/9/20. It may be several days before the feature is available for all users.
Considerations
Only the meeting organizer can start breakout rooms.
The “new meeting experience” must be enabled in Teams. See “Turning on the New Meeting Experience in Teams” here.
Guests (those without a CSU Microsoft 365 account) are unable to join breakout rooms in the Teams desktop app and would need to use Teams through a web browser.
