TimeClock

TimeClock

We use the TimeClock app for punching in and out of shifts, taking breaks, keeping track of hours, and reviewing accruals (paid sick leave). Instructions for installing and setting up the app are available here.

You can use TimeClock exclusively from the computer, but I’d recommend downloading the phone app for extra convenience.

The web link is available under the “Quick Links” list on the right side of the screen on Lab Tools.

Taking Breaks

If you are just momentarily getting up to go to the bathroom or something, don’t bother using TimeClock. Just put up the little sign to let people know you’ll be back.

Otherwise, breaks that are under 15 minutes are paid. 30 minute, unpaid “lunch” breaks are allowed for longer shifts. Please be responsible and considerate when taking these breaks. To record a break, simply click “Leave on Break” when you leave, and then click “Return from Break” when you return.

Mistakes

If you accidentally forget to clock in or out, that’s totally fine. Just let the manager (@Conner Burks ) know, and she can fix it for you. This happens pretty frequently, so don’t feel ashamed.

The app also has a somewhat complicated way for resolving these issues on your own. If, for example, you realized you forgot to clock in at the beginning of your shift, just wait until the end of your shift and clock out as normal. It will then alert you that you missed your clock-in, and allow you to manually enter the time your shift began.

The reverse is also true. If you forget to clock out, just wait until your next shift to begin. Once that next shift begins, clock in as normal. It will then alert you that you forgot to clock out of your last shift, then allow you to manually enter the time your last shift ended.
