Communication
It’s very important to communicate effectively in this job.
Check Teams at the beginning of your shift, and keep it open throughout.
Check your official CSU email.
Use the lab phones.
Answer “RDC Computer Lab, this is Jack,” not “Hello?”.
Dial 1-#### where the #s represent the last 4 digits of a CSU phone number to reach other phones on campus. For example, dialing 1-3458 would reach the helpdesk, just as dialing (970) 491-3458 from your cell phone would.
You may receive spam phone calls. Don’t ever give out information to “tech support” people other than the CHHS Helpdesk.
Texting and calling others is fine. You can actually set your communication preferences on Lab Tools.
Use the Notebook!
Use the CSU directory to find contact information.
This is useful when an instructor leaves something behind and you’d like to email them to let them know.
You can also give out Conner’s information from the directory.
