There are several items listed under Settings, if you see something in WordPress that is not mentioned here, we never mess with that particular setting (general and writing are two such items).
Reading
Since we don’t build new sites in a staging environment, we want to make sure search engines aren’t indexing our site as we build it out.
Under the Reading Settings
Check the box at the bottom
Click “Save Changes”
*Be sure to uncheck this after the site is live
Password Protected
We have a few sites that are restricted to a select audience. The Password Protected plugin is used to configure this status on an entire site. We do not have the ability to password protect a single page or sections of a site, it’s the entire site or nothing.
Check the Enabled box
Enter a password
Reenter password
Click “Save Changes”
