Closing shifts have the same responsibilities as any other shift, with a few extras.

  • Check supply caddies, paper, ink/toner, tissues, etc.

  • Notify users ~15 minutes before close, and again 5 minutes before*

  • Clean up

  • Straighten chairs, mice, monitors, and keyboards

  • Set the alarm*

  • Turn off appropriate lights*

  • Close the door

  • Leave computers on

  • Turn the printers off*

  • In 24-hour labs, put up the “Lab op is away for the night” sign

*These responsibilities do not apply to 24-hour labs.
